Chief Justice Presented With Veterans Court Mentor Coin

Veteran Mentors for the Lancaster County Veterans Court thanked the Chief Justice for his leadership during a coin presentation ceremony in the Supreme Court courtroom on December 14, 2021.

Ceremony participants outlined their hopes for the future, noting that under the administration of Chief Justice Heavican, the Lancaster County Veteran’s Treatment Court and many other Nebraska problem-solving courts have become an integral part of the court system.

Heavican, who is well known for his strong advocacy for the establishment and management of the statewide problem-solving court system, was recognized for his support of veterans treatment courts. Veteran Mentors act as role models and guide veterans throughout the court process. Veteran Mentors, who help with readjustment issues and assist court participants in reentering civilian life, live by the credo “no vet left behind.”
