The 2022 Summer Tour will take the Chief Justice, key court staff, and select judges and justices to the northwestern portion of the state in mid-August in conjunction with the Nebraska Consortium of Tribal, State, and Federal Courts’ public engagement sessions.  The Chief Justice and members of the Court devote several days each summer to traveling outside the Lincoln area to meet with judges, court, and probation staff and to observe local programs and services.

The tour will begin in Oshkosh before heading west for the public engagement session in Scottsbluff.  The second of the two public engagement sessions will be in Rushville the following morning, after which the group will visit Chadron for the evening.  A morning trip to Alliance will begin the journey back to Lincoln, intersecting with Nebraska State Bar Association events along the way.

The final step of the tour will be to visit the Grand Island VA Medical Center to view inpatient care facilities and sober living houses.

The purpose of summer tours is to enhance intra-branch communication through regular contact with courts and probation across the state.
