Court of Appeals Panel in Kearney
The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners Board Room served as a courtroom for oral arguments for one panel of the Court of Appeals on November 9 and 10, 2021. The traveling three-judge panel, consisting of Judges Frankie Moore, Riko Bishop, and David Arterburn, was accompanied by judicial law clerk Claudia Brock and Captain Lance Rogers of the Nebraska State Patrol.
The Court of Appeals’ primary courtroom is in the State Capitol in Lincoln. The Court travels outside of the Capital City to hear appeals for the convenience of the lawyers and parties involved in cases being heard, and also to increase public access to and awareness of the appellate court process.
Courthouses and government offices across the state open their doors to traveling sessions of the Court of Appeals.
“We are extremely grateful to Buffalo County for hosting our oral arguments,” said Judge Moore, who presided over the Court’s two days in Kearney. Judge Bishop added, “The Buffalo County Government Center is a beautiful facility, and it comfortably and safely accommodated everyone in attendance. I attended college in Kearney, so it is always enjoyable to return to an area very special to me.”
