A-15-1143, Michael A. Hovey (Appellant) v. Dawn N. Hovey
Douglas County, District Judge Shelly Stratman
Attorney for Appellant: Brandie M. Fowler and Matthew Stuart Higgins (Higgins Law)
Attorney for Appellee: Richard P. McGowan (McGowan Law Firm)
Civil Action: Dissolution of Marriage
Action Taken by Trial Court: The district court divided the assets and liabilities of the parties, awarded alimony, and dissolved the marriage.
Assignments of Error on Appeal: Michael assigns that the district court erred in: (1) including certain non-marital assets belonging to the appellant in its division of marital assets; (2) its valuation of various accounts held by the parties, in that the court announced its intention to use specific dates for said valuations, but then failed to use the correct values with regard to those dates; (3) excluding certain monies from the marital estate which the trial court found to have been inherited and/or non-marital, despite appellee failing to fully trace the excepted monies; and (4) awarding appellee alimony, both in terms of amount and duration, particularly in light of the appellee's historical and current earnings, work history, and substantial property settlement award.
