Criminal Action: Second degree murder, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony

Action Taken by Trial Court:  The district court refused to instruct the jury on self-defense after Adams’ counsel requested the instruction. A jury found Adams guilty of second degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. The district court sentenced Adams to 50 to 60 years’ imprisonment for his conviction of second degree murder and 10 to 20 years’ imprisonment for his conviction of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
