S-24-0191 Leaf Supreme Products, LLC and John Q. Bachman (Appellees) v. James E. and Adella Bachman (Appellants)
Appeal from the District Court for Douglas County, Judge J. Russell Derr
Attorneys: James E. Bachman (Attorney for Appellants) and Raymond R. Aranza and Alexandria M. Emig (Walentine O’Toole, LLP for Appellees)
Civil: Contempt of court
Proceedings below: The district court found Appellants to be in contempt of court and ordered Appellants to report to jail and to serve a sentence of at least 30 days but permitted Appellants to purge the contempt when they produced documents to Appellees and paid them $13,000. On its own motion, the Nebraska Supreme Court ordered this case to be transferred from the docket of the Nebraska Court of Appeals to its docket.
Issues: Appellants assign the following error: 1) The district court erred as a matter of law when it held the Appellants in contempt of court because the underlying aid in execution was issued prior to the issuance of the final order. Therefore, the order was void.
