Day 2: Chief Justice Summer Tour First Stop Day two - Sheridan County Court (Rushville)

After greeting Chief Justice Heavican and his travel group, Judge Russel Harford ushered everyone into the district courtroom on the 3rd floor, where he began the tour of the Sheridan County courthouse. He concluded the visit in the county courtroom located in the basement of the neighboring building.

Heavican took the opportunity to publicly congratulate Harford on his retirement and thank him for his service to the courts. Justice John Freudenberg mentioned that the legal community will suffer a great loss with Harford’s retirement; to which Harford responded, I know it is time to retire, and I will miss all of you.

Harford and Freudenberg spent time in the Sheridan County courtroom sharing stories of their early years practicing law in the panhandle.

Harford resumed his hosting duties later that same afternoon in the Dawes County Courthouse in Chadron, where the Chief’s group from Lincoln visited the county/district courtroom.
