Job Description:

The Nebraska Legislature created the Administrative Office of Probation (AOP) and outlined the functions of the office when providing statewide probation services for adults and juveniles which, in turn, enhance public safety and provides rehabilitative services to its clients. The Administrator of the AOP is responsible for ensuring the Nebraska Judicial Branch successfully meets or exceeds the requirements established by the Nebraska Legislature. 
The incumbent of the Probation Administrator’s position is responsible for all aspects of the statewide adult and juvenile Nebraska Probation system in fulling the mission and vision of the organization.

Essential Duties:

Under the Direction of the Nebraska Supreme Court and the Nebraska State Court Administrator the Probation Administrator provides leadership in the design, implementation, and assessment of strategies, goals, policies, objectives, and activities over Nebraska Probation; develops and oversees probation ongoing operations; coordinates activities between multiple organizations and stakeholders or functions.

Provides overall direction and leadership to Nebraska Probation, which may include: assigning projects and objectives; conducting performance evaluations; developing, motivating, and training employees; and making hiring, termination and disciplinary decisions.

Provides overall management and development of operating and capital budgets for Nebraska Probation; reviews and approves expenditures as needed; solicits and monitors revenue/funding.

Develops and maintains internal and external relationships; participates in a variety of meetings, committees, task forces, or related groups to communicate information regarding services, programs, areas of opportunity, and other information; represents assigned areas on committees and advocacy groups. Negotiates and manages contracts with external parties as necessary.

Monitors, reviews, edits, and approves plans for compliance with policies, procedures, and strategic objectives.

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in judicial, public, or business administration or a related field; and 7 years’ experience in an administrative capacity, including experience in court or related administrative or professional work; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient

to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS                                                                                               

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
