Guardian and Conservator Education

Guardian and Conservator Education

The Office of Public Guardian provides training, education, and support to individuals serving as guardians and/or conservators. This course, Becoming a Guardian and/or Conservator, is required unless specifically waived by the Court. The course content, approved by the Nebraska Supreme Court, provides detailed information for those serving as guardian or conservator.

Course Costs and Formats

Becoming a Guardian and/or Conservator is available in two formats. First, the online class provides a flexible, self-paced option for completing the class and is offered in both English and Spanish ($20). The in-person class ($35) is taught by a live instructor.

Online Class

The online course is highly recommended, as it provides the greatest flexibility and access to the course information, while also being the least expensive option. You must have a desktop or laptop computer to take this course. It does NOT work on phones or tablets. The online course is provided in both English and Spanish. Access to the course will be sent by email within seven (7) days of payment. Please DO NOT register and pay for the class more than once. Each person who registers for the online class will need their own email address. Co-guardians/co-conservators must register and pay separately using separate email addresses. NO EXCEPTIONS.

In-Person Class

In-person classes are scheduled across the state. Participants must be registered and paid in order to be admitted into the class. Registration will close 1 week prior to the class date. Only the registered individual will be allowed to attend the training. Please DO NOT register and pay for the class more than once. Co-guardians and/or co-conservators must register and pay separately, no matter the course format. No guests. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Requests for interpretation MUST be made in the Accommodations section of the registration form. Interpretation for Spanish is available on a scheduled basis; see below for classes that include Spanish interpretation. All other languages must be requested by calling 402.471.2862. Interpreter availability may be limited.

After registration, you will receive payment confirmation via email. Registration closes when the class is full, or 1 week prior to the class date. After registration closes, registrants will receive an email with the course materials, location information, and any pandemic-related requirements from the venue.
