Guardian and Conservator Education
The Office of Public Guardian provides training, education, and support to individuals serving as guardians and/or conservators. The course, Becoming a Guardian and/or Conservator, is required unless specifically waived by the Court, and must be completed within three months of the guardian/conservator's appointment. Neb. Rev. Stat. § 30-2627 (D). The course content, approved by the Nebraska Supreme Court, provides detailed information for those serving as guardian or conservator. The course is available online.
The online class is offered in both English and Spanish. For any other language or any ADA requests, please contact the Office of Public Guardian at 402.471.2862. The Office of Public Guardian provides reasonable accommodations for court users with disabilities consistent with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). All requests are given due consideration and, if necessary, may require an interactive process between the requester and the OPG to determine the best course of action.
Online course participants may have their individual questions answered by calling the Office of Public Guardian and requesting to speak with an Associate Public Guardian after completing the course. Online Class – English and Spanish
- Each person who registers for the online class will need their own email address. No exceptions.
- Co-guardians/co-conservators must register and pay separately using unique email addresses. No exceptions.
- Law firms who register their clients will need to use the client's name and email address at registration. No exceptions.
- Users should double check that the email address is correct before completing the registration. Users should also keep their login credentials in a safe place. The Office of Public Guardian will not be able to reset passwords. Use the "forgot password?" feature.
- Upon successful registration and payment, users will be given immediate access to the course. The system will not allow you to change the information later. It is your responsibility to enter your registration and payment details accurately.
- Upon completion of the course, users may download and/or print their Certificate of Completion. It is the user’s responsibility to file the certificate with the court, and/or to provide it to their attorney for filing. The Office of Public Guardian will not be able to replace a lost Certificate of Completion. Users will need to login again to generate another copy.
