Steven Hunzeker and Dustin Niedermeyer, District 5 probation officers, were chosen to receive Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Hero Awards for 2020. Steven Hunzeker (top picture) is a Specialized Populations Probation Officer serving the Post -Release Supervision population, as well as other high-risk adult clients in the York area. Hunzeker joined District 5 as a Community Based Intervention Probation Officer in 2016. 

Dustin Niedermeyer (bottom picture) is a Juvenile Specialized Probation Officer, serving high-risk youth in Seward and Saunders Counties. Niedermeyer joined District 5 as a Juvenile Community Based Resource Probation Officer in 2017.  

Due to COVID Restrictions, the MADD Hero Ceremony was not held this year. However, MADD notes: “MADD Nebraska is honored that we get the chance to recognize the incredible work being done in our state. And, while the circumstances may look different this year, the honor does not. These honorees are among the best in our state, their work is exemplary, and their dedication to keeping everyone safe is inspiring.”
