Nebraska Probation Week Celebrated With Proclamation from Chief Justice

The State Judicial Branch is celebrating Nebraska Probation Week July 17-23, 2022. To highlight the celebration, Chief Justice Michael Heavican signed a proclamation designating the week and urging all citizens – particularly those within the legal community – to take note of the occasion.

State Court Administrator Corey Steel hosted the proclamation ceremony on July 20 in the Supreme Court’s courtroom with a live broadcast of the event. Speakers included State Probation Administrator Deb Minardi with High-Risk Probation Officer Mark Wagner serving as Keynote speaker. Chief Probation Officer Mary Visek served as the closing speaker for the ceremony.

Probation services, which operate through the Nebraska Judicial Branch, are essential to the state court’s juvenile and adult justice systems. Probation officers, staff, and administration exemplify evidence-based probation practices while accomplishing constructive change and community safety through rehabilitation, community collaboration, and partnerships with those who provide services.

Nebraska Probation Week is recognized during national Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week.
