Managing Medicaid Open Enrollment

Part of a guardian’s responsibilities can include managing a ward’s Medicaid benefits. These benefits differ from Medicare.
Like Medicare, the Medicaid program can be confusing, so doing your research and learning about the programs and services your ward may be eligible for is important. Open enrollment for Medicaid occurs each year between November 1st and December 15th, through the Heritage Health system. There are currently 3 managed care organizations (MCOs) that offer Medicaid plans in Nebraska. During open enrollment, you may change your ward’s MCO.
