Supreme Court Back in Courtroom for Fall Term

Justices will resume their seats in the Nebraska Supreme Court courtroom beginning August 31, marking the first oral argument of the 2021 fall term. The courtroom has been under construction since April 2020, when the Capitol Commission began Phase 2 of the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Upgrade project. The Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals have been sharing the Court of Appeals chamber since Phase 2 of the project began. The Court of Appeals courtroom was updated during Phase 1 of the project. Both courtrooms are now available to their intended occupants.

Phase 2 impacted full the southeast quadrant of the Capitol where the Judicial Branch is housed. The Court Administrator, Probation Administration, and related offices moved into the tower prior to COVID-19 impacting offices within the Capitol. Court and probation administration’s public business has resumed on the first floor of the Capitol.
