Each May, the Nebraska State Bar Foundation and the Nebraska Judicial Branch partner to host a celebratory Law Day Community Luncheon. Judge of the District Court, for the Third Judicial District, Steven D. Burns, is retiring effective May 31, 2016. Supreme Court Justice William M. Connolly recently submitted a retirement notice to the Governor indicating his plan to retire August 1, 2016, after 24 years on the bench -- 2 years on the Nebraska Court of Appeals and 22 years on the Nebraska Supreme Court. “It has been a great honor to serve the citizens of this state as both a county attorney and a judge,” commented Connolly.
