New education covering nine critical responsibilities of courtroom clerks is now available online through the Judicial Branch Education (JBE) website . JBE developed the materials with Transcription Specialist Linda Mitchell and Trial Court Services Director for County Courts Sheryl Connolly. A new subcommittee regarding Court Reporting Personnel Education is being formed. The subcommittee is looking for representation from all levels of Court Reporting Personnel (including Official Court Reporters, District Court and County Court Courtroom Clerks, and any other County Court staff that assist Judges in the courtroom) to provide knowledge, expertise, and a voice to education. The State Judicial Branch is celebrating Nebraska Probation Week July 17-23, 2022. To highlight the celebration, Chief Justice Michael Heavican signed a proclamation designating the week and urging all citizens – particularly those within the legal community – to take note of the occasion. Judges, clerk magistrates, and other interested persons may submit comments by August 1, 2022, to proposed revisions to Nebraska Supreme Court rules and appendices that would update and clarify the judicial financial interest statement process. Proposed changes include electronic reporting and specific language regarding recreational homes belonging to the judge or magistrate.
