On November 2, 2017 the District 1 Probation office in Beatrice held a ceremony to commemorate two individuals who both made a big impact in their community. The probation office named two rooms in their reporting center in honor of Gage County’s first probation officer, Cliff Wolf, Jr., and Jeremy Wach, a volunteer firefighter and member of the Gage County Sheriff’s Office. Dakota County Court Clerk Magistrate Paula Jensen submitted her notice of retirement effective November 30, 2017, after forty-four years of service to the Judicial Branch. On November 13, 2017, the U.S. Supreme Court’s electronic filing system will begin operation. While paper will remain the official form of filing as under existing practice, parties represented by counsel will also be required to submit most documents through the new electronic filing system. Valley and Greeley County Court Clerk Magistrate Kathy Sweeney submitted her notice of retirement effective November 3, 2017, after 33 years of service to the Judicial Branch. A Swearing-in ceremony for Jennifer Myers as Clerk Magistrate of Hall County Court was held October 23, 2017, in the Hall County Court in Grand Island, Nebraska. Judge Arthur Wetzel presided over the ceremony with Judge Alfred Corey participating in the event. A new scam has surfaced in Scottsbluff threatening fines for missing a non-existent grand jury summons.
