Nebraska Supreme Court to Hold Court Session at Omaha Bryan High School

At the invitation of Bryan High School, the Nebraska Supreme Court Justices will hold a special court session in the school’s auditorium on the afternoon of April 2, 2025. This visit is part of the Court's ongoing outreach and education initiative aimed at Nebraska high school students. It reflects the Supreme Court's and, through the support of the Nebraska State Bar Foundation, the legal community's shared commitment to enhancing public understanding of judicial processes and emphasizing the importance of civics education in American society.

Cotter Named Nebraska State Probation Administrator

The Nebraska Supreme Court announces the appointment of Mr. Gene Cotter as Nebraska’s new State Probation Administrator. Cotter, the seventh administrator in sixty-six years, will direct the statewide delivery of all juvenile and adult probation services in Nebraska. The appointment is effective February 1, 2025.

Cotter has worked in Nebraska Probation for 34 years, most recently as the Deputy Administrator for Operations, where he was responsible for statewide communications, interstate compact, personnel, probation performance management, and research and data.

Chief Justice Funke to Give State of the Judiciary Address January 28

Chief Justice Jeffrey Funke will give his first State of the Judiciary address to Nebraska state senators at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in the Legislative Chamber.

Nebraska Courts and Probation Remain Open January 9, 2025

On January 9, 2025, National Day of Mourning for President Carter, all Nebraska courts and probation offices will remain open and operational to provide essential services. Court filings, hearings, probation appointments, and other court functions will proceed as scheduled.
