Nebraska Supreme Court to Announce Problem-Solving Court Month with Proclamation
Featuring Omaha’s Young Adult Court Judge and Graduate
Nebraska Chief Justice Michael G. Heavican and Justice Jeffrey Funke will host a proclamation signing ceremony on April 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. to officially declare Nebraska Problem-Solving Court Month on behalf of the State Judicial Branch. The ceremony will be streamed live from the Nebraska Supreme Court Courtroom.

Certified Court Interpreter Orientation Registration Approaches
The April 18 deadline to register for the May Orientation is quickly approaching! If you’ve thought about registering for Orientation or any part of the Interpreter Certification Pathway, please plan on attending one of these 30-minute informational sessions to learn how to become a certified or provisionally certified interpreter for Nebraska’s courts and probation offices.

The United States officially recognizes this day each year to celebrate the vital role of law in American society and to foster a deeper understanding of the legal profession. Across Nebraska, trial court judges and Judicial Branch staff participate in various activities to mark the occasion, such as the 5th Grade Job Shadow program, Supreme Court traveling argument sessions, and judges serving as guest speakers at educational institutions to educate students.

Outstanding County Court Clerk Magistrate Award, 2023
Awarded to: Linda Mitchell, Antelope County Court Clerk Magistrate
Linda’s passion for the court record and the courts has served her well as she works with court reporters and courts in all 93 counties to assign transcription requests and bills of exception. She reaches out to new clerk magistrates and staff who are maneuvering the transcription processes for the first time, and she seamlessly transitions assignments from the courts to the right court reporter.

Chief Justice announces March 18-22 as Nebraska Trial Court Week 2024
Nebraska Chief Justice Michael Heavican held a proclamation signing for Nebraska Trial Court Week on Monday morning, March 18; the first day of the 2024 week-long celebration. Nebraska Public Media live-streamed the proclamation signing for those unable to attend.

When Douglas County Courts Judicial Administrator stepped away earlier this year it was imperative that strong leadership continue in Nebraska’s largest court. Wendy and Kelley stepped in to ensure a seamless transition as the Court pursued a new administrator over the next several months.
Nebraska Supreme Court to Hold Court Session at Sidney High School
As an ongoing initiative for outreach and education, the Nebraska Supreme Court Justices will hold court in the Sidney High School auditorium on the morning of May 3, 2024. This visit is part of the Nebraska Supreme Court's and the legal community's sustained efforts to enhance understanding of court processes and underscore the significance of civics education in American society.
